Root Tethering Without Root

I am on JB (Waiting for a root method without having to revert back to ICS). Is there any free wifi tether options without rooting? Once I do get rooted, what is the best option out there?

When I was on the Bionic and it worked great. Just making sure this will work on JB for the HD Maxx

I had a love/hate relationship with that app. if it setup ok, it worked wonders. if it didnt, good frikin luck trying to get it to work right. of course, JB lost that option since it killed root... I'd recommend it if we ever get root back on JB.
