TEXT ALERT SOUNDS CUT-OFF

[Galaxy Quest]

So I tailored some of my text alerts for certain contacts. The thing is, often times the full alert doesn't play (and by full alert I mean they're probably 5 seconds long).
A) Is anyone experiencing the same thing
2) If so, do you think it's the phone or maybe the ringtone app I'm using?
