Text from blocked contacts getting through

I run Oreo on a Moto G5 plus. I have blocked some numbers from sending texts in the native messages app. But text from blocked numbers are getting through. What could be the problem?

The stock messaging app isn't as good as it should be.
Try textra from the play store instead
