Received the KitKat update. Since receiving that update I no longer receive texts to my Kenwood DNX690HD (I did before the update). I've unpaired the phone from the audio device, deleted both profiles from the phone and car stereo and re-paired them. Still no success. Any suggestions would be helpful.

With the phone unpaired to any device, does the phone itself receive texts? If so, your Kenwood isn't compatible with Kit Kat for some reason. (And the fix is Kenwood updating their product.)

If not, have you tried any other SMS app? If not, do so. If that works, your text app isn't working right. Install Messaging (free at Play) and use that for texting, or use whatever app you prefer.

If that still doesn't work, bring the phone to your carrier's store and ask if they can reflash the update - the update you got is corrupt somewhere. (It happens every so often.)

Texting uses the same path as voice, so if you can make and take phone calls, the phone itself (hardwre, radios, etc.) is working, as far as texting goes.

Very likely the issue you're experiencing is because of a firmware update to your car's head unit. I had an issue with my Note 3 that would pair to my Alpine head unit but couldn't get any sound to come through. A simple firmware update to the Alpine fixed my problem. All you need to do is search the model number and firmware update and you should get the link from Kenwood's site along with instructions on how to apply the update. Good luck!
