Help Text message notification

nikki75182

Lurker
Whenever I get a text message, the notification seems to flicker non-stop until I open the notice. Anyone else have this, how can I correct it? Thanks!!

Did you do a restore form an old backup?
What carrier?

Did you clear cache?
I mean does the app work NORMALLY otherwise? Can you send and receive texts with no issue?
Do you have a 3rd party launcher?
3rd party wallpapers?
Have you temporarily tried using another text app (textra, etc) to see if the problem persists? If not, its worth a try to test.
Making a video would help explain the issue.

Hello I am also having the same problem. So I have no third party launchers or Text app on my phone. It is a stock application. My phone carrier is T-Mobile. The app was working perfectly but I've notice the issue before they sent out an update for it.

If my phone screen is off and I receive a text. The screen will come up and the notification for the text message app would flicker the entire time as the original poster until I actually went into the app. Also after opening the phone it will continue in the notification bar again until you open the app. I've notice that it seem to do it a lot more often when connected to a poor wifi connection or an area with low reception. I will try to upload a picture or video once it happens again.

I Have T-Mobile also...nothing new installed. Everything is factory as well. Wonder if it's something with the carrier??

@Marcus Allen ,

Did you use a backup form an old device to restore the note 8?

I'm on T-Mobile and dont have any such issues, but as ive mentioned somewhere, I frequent a few android sites and those with the note who have been having weird glitches, whereas the populace hasn't, they have more or less installed an old backup from a previous device.

My recommendation is to clear cache on the app, clear cache of the entire phone, and clear google services cache.

Try different text apps, use a different launcher.

Worse case, reset and do a clean install.

I didn't use an old backup to restore. I started fresh. I've tried a clean install as well, still the same thing.

good to know.

still its something specific to your device that causing the errors. ive a tmobile variant and am using textra with no issues, so its not the carrier.

albeit rare, but it could be a local issue with in your area code, but again that is rare.

as mentioned, worth a shot to clear cache phone wide, app, google play services won't hurt either.

Isn't there a setting in the Note 8 for persistent text mesg or to have the notification be a one and done? I seem to remember seeing this setting when looking through everything in my phone and am wondering if this might have something to do with this issue?
