Go into settings and see if there is anything there.
FWIW, I just checked Textra and the default messaging app and can only have it show if it was sent/delivered, not if it was actually read. Not that that is anything I'd use but the only place I've seen it (on my limited use of) is Whatsapp. I'm just wondering but it may not be possible for generic messengers but only apps like Whatsapp, FB messaging etc.? Or I could be so wrong there.
