Text message showing multiple numbers

My S3 has never doen this. It updated to 4.3 today and now when a friend of mine sends me a text message to me that he has sent to multiple people it comes to me with a list of phone numbers. It does not show that it is from him till I open the message.
I dont want to see everyone he has sent the message to. I just want it to show me who it is from. How do I change this back to the way it was.
My wife has a new S4 and she says hers has always done that.
It is annoying and want to change that.
any ideas how to change it back so if I get a message from him reguardless if he sends it to others it shoes it is from him and is added to previous converstations like it used to do.

If he sends it To: others, you'll see them on the list. If he sends CC: (carbon copy) to others, you'll see it to you, but the others on the CC list. If he sends BC: (blind copy) to others, you'll see you, and no one else on any list.

It's up to how he sends it, not something you do. Email has always worked that way. Either he's using a different email client (or his phone just updated) or the S3 update you got is now showing the CC header and it never did before. (You may be able to disable that in Settings or Preferences or somewhere. Look to turn off all headers. The only ones you seem to want are From:, To: and Subject:, which always show.)

Thanks for the follow up but this is not happeneing with Email.
this is the text messageing that I am haing problems with.
