Help Text Messaging Conundrum

onieward

Lurker
currently, when someone sends you a picture, video or group text message (SMS), it gets converted to a multimedia message (MMS) (on the stock android 4.4.2 text messaging app).

however, when your data is turned off, and you are connected by wi-fi only, the message doesn't always show in your messaging "in" box, and the audible notification does not ding, nor does the message text completely download.

but, as soon as you turn your data on (which could be hours/days later), both the audible notification rings and the full message text downloads.

my question: is there any setting available that will automatically turn the data on when an mms message arrives? if so, where is it found? or is there a workaround that will do this?

if not, well, that's just dumb.....

thanks!

Try Textra, go to the MMS settings and enable MMS by wifi.

If your carrier supports it, boom, problem solved.

If not - check the box to activate mobile data when sending or receiving MMS.

Same boom, hopefully. :D

Let me know if this helps, cheers!

Also in Textra, sorry. It's pretty good.
