Text Messaging Issues?

Does anybody have issues using non-stock text apps? The stock app works just fine sending texts but the customization for it is really limited. I've tried GOsms, Chomp, Textra, and Handcent and all have the same issue. When i send texts, about 33% of the time they will not send. i have to try to resend them. Receiving is fine, never issues there, just sending is an issue and just with non stock apps. Anyone else experience this?
 
I've tried hangouts and hover sms and have the same issues, not sure if it's the phone or VM. Seems like it might take too long to send sometimes? I know the Evo V had an issue with the sms taking too long and timing out.
 
You're right, it's like it does time out too quick, even when i have good signal. I also did have this on my EVO V 4G, was hoping it would be fixed with this hardware. Oh well. Maybe KK will make a difference. All i want is to be able to assign individual ringtones. Textra was a great lightweight app for me but i don't want to have to keep hitting resend every forth text wondering if it went through. Thanks for the help though!
