text time stamp

ok at work I keep my phone off, when I turn it back on say at lunch or after work. The texts come through with a time stamp of when I turned my phone back on. But they may have been sent hours before. So I don't know if I am returning a six hour old text or did it really just get sent...

I had an htc vivid and it did not do this, it had the correct time of when text was sent when I turn phone on.

I have a htc one m9 and I use att...

Unfortunately this feature has been removed for a long time with Android. The consensus was that You could end up missing messages because they are too old.... This would occur in a situation where someone sends a text message, but for one reason or another the message is delayed. You get it 5 days later (rare occurrence) and you just don't notice it right away.


They were trying to simplify the messaging so everything is on top. Most folks never turn their phones off. There are so many options for DND & power savings modes that you can effectively make your phone last for days in a powered on state if you are not using it.

I agree that there should be an option in message details that allows you to see this information. Unfortunately this has been brought to Google's attention and they have yet to respond.

Mmm...on my M9 (carrier EE) all my texts arrive with a time stamp of when the text was sent, verified in 'View message details' in 'Message options' with usually an identical 'Received' time although occasionally a gap of a few minutes. If I shut the phone down, on power-up texts sent during the shut down period still have a time stamp of when the text was sent, verified again in 'View message details' but the 'Received' time is the power-up time.
