Help Text to speech - silly question!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but....

On my ZTE Blade, I've enabled Text to Speech in Settings and have installed the TTS voice pack from the Android Market, as prompted.

Yet I still don't get any visible way to 'play' messages or emails. Am I missing something, or is TTS only used by selected apps?

Yeah, it's only used by selected apps.
For automatically reading incoming text messages out loud, I recommend Tasker. You can even use it to preset when or where you want it to read the texts.

As for email... I dunno.

So it's more an underlying thing that Google put in for their own use in Navigation and not something which ANY of the built-in apps use? Seems a waste. My old Nokias all have text-to-speech built-in and available for all the messaging apps.... 8-(
