how do I take the old text icon off the bottom of the screen and replace it with the chomp icon
 
Welcome to Android Forums! :)

A long press on the messaging icon should allow you to remove it from your homescreen - you'd then need to go to your app draw and a long press on the chomp icon should allow you to put it in the place of the old text icon :)
