Texting and the SIII keyboard

Lurker
I have a Galaxy SIII with Sprint. When I text I touch the message screen and get the keyboard. No problem. However, I can't figure out how to get rid of it other than backing out of texting. When the keyboard is present I can only get one bubble of text. I can't scroll and want to be able to review the entire thread. When I want to respond I want to enable the keyboard. What am I doing wrong?

That's strange. I press the back button and the keyboard goes away. This seems to work with every keyboard I've tried. Sorry I can't be of much help. Maybe try a different keyboard or clearing the keyboard cache.
