Texting app between Android and iPhone

I'm looking in the Android Market, and I don't see any texting apps that work with both an Android phone and the iPhone. I have a Google Voice account, and I had my gf text me from her iPhone using my GV number, but it still went into the native texting app instead of the GV app. I only have 200 texts allotted with my AT&T plan, so I don't want to pay AT&T a huge amount each month by going over my texting plan. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in the GV app? Or if anyone has app suggestions that work between an Android phone and an iPhone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

did you turn off the notification on the native app and make sure gv app is turned on. if that dont work try deleting and reinstall

I'm far from being an expert on using Google Voice for texting, but on your desktop go to Google Voice settings, and on the phone tab click the edit button for your mobile phone. You should see a "Text Settings" entry. If it's checked, uncheck it. I believe this will prevent Google Voice from forwarding SMS messages to your mobile phone.

In Google Voice on your phone, check your settings and make sure you the following enabled: Synchronize Inbox, Background Data, Inbox Notifications, Vibrate (if you want), Light (if you want). Disable Notifications via SMS.

You may also want to set Google Voice as your default messaging app if you haven't already done so.

get the app called MessageNow..have your GF get it on her iPhone.. it's free and won't cost you anything for messaging..
