Texting App like Gvoice?

Is there a texting app like Google Voice that allows you to receive unlimited texts with your current phone number? I essentially want to use only a data plan for texting and do not want to change my number.

I am not aware of one. There's rumors that you will eventually be able to port your existing number to GV, but nothing has been announced.

I could simply not know of some killer program that will do this, but it seems unlikely because your number belongs to your phone, so if someone sends a text to your number, it seems like it has to go to ... your phone.
