Texting Apps Similar to FB

Is there any texting apps that are similar to Facebook Message app used as a texting app where you can do things like you can with snapchat?

Have in mind that any texting app that has more features then texting and sending pictures/videos/contacts, will require that both parties have the same app. For example, sending a message on WhatsApp will require that both you and the recipient have the app.

I also suggest you specify what kind of features you are looking for so that others can give relevant suggestions
