Help TF101 Slow/Locking Up

awslyall

Lurker
Model:Asus Transformer TF101
Android Version: 4.0.3
Kernel: 2.6.39.4
Build: IML74K.WW_epad-9.2.1.27-20120615

My Transformer recently start to run very slowly and would get unresponsive for a minute or two.
It has only ever downloaded apps from Google Play and has never been root etc.
Unable to resolve the issue I restored Factory Defaults and only installed Google Chrome.
All Update from Google play have since been ran.

However the system is still not performing as expected. After a few minutes of use it will slow down and lock up. The touch screen becomes completely unresponsive.
Then if I leave it a while the system will start to respond again for another minute or two.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Andy

Welcome to AF Andy!

Do you have the dock or just the tab, does it perform better with or without the dock or doesn't it make a difference?

If you've tried a factory reset and it's still doing it, I suspect there's a hardware fault somewhere so I'd suggest calling Asus unfortunately, sorry!

Hi El Presidente

Thanks for you help. No their is no dock involved here.

Looks like a call to Asus is in order.

Thanks

Andy

Fwiw, if it has to go back to them, they're relatively quick from my experience.

My tab went out to them on Friday and according to their RMA tracker, it's been repaired and is on its way back to me at the moment.

That's a busted tablet for sure. If I had to guess, I'd say the thermal compound wasn't applied right, or there's a general heat issue inside the tablet that it's having an issue with.

Mine's overclocked to 1600 Mhz running Jellybean (Cyanogenmod10) and it runs as sweet as melted butter. (Did I just mix my metaphors?)

Antutu Benchmark: 6938 (sitting in the keyboard dock).

I have a class 4 SD card which pulls my benchmark down in the read/write scores. A class 10 would put it over 7000.

When it was 'stock', non-rooted, running Asus Honeycomb out of the box it probably ran at half that score.
