So glad my laptop still had the one year limited warranty! I know a bit about hardware, but I'm a software guy. My fan went out on my laptop and it was over heating. I called HP and they're giving me free expedited everything. I know the fan is a simple fix but if I got a free fix and if I'm lazy enough to not even buy a fan, well heck right?

If you can live without the laptop for the "expedited" period, sure. I'm not sure what they use the word for, but the last time I had them do an expedited repair it took 5 weeks from the time I dropped it off until I had it back. It was a while ago, so maybe they've gotten their act together since then.

I've owned HP laptops for years, and they have treated me pretty decently.

Actually, they hooked me up with a free laptop when the one I had was taking too long to get repaired under warranty for the third or fourth time.

Well, I suppose some people would say that was terrible service because the one laptop was a lemon, but I'd rather recognize that my handler on that case was doing the best he could to make up for shortcomings in the design of his company's product and manufacturing.
