Despite what's been done with his gun, its still a hell of a firearm, give him credit for wanting to create a excellent weapon for his country.

if we can honor the creator of dynamite by lauding his "Nobel" prize every single year........ surely we can honor the creator of the most popular peace deliverer in history

Yeah...a shame. A lot more science and engineering goes into designing firearms than most people think.

The AK is a nice piece of engineering for it's intended use...cheap, easy to produce, extremely durable, idiot simple to operate and in the right hands very effective <300 meters with a human size target.

That said...for my purposes it's a piece of crap. The action feels sloppy, it's difficult to mount a scope and the ammo sucks.

It's all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
