The best AV is thinking about what you do: only install from reputable sites (*), check permissions and reviews before installing, and don't click on links in emails. Malware can only get onto an android device if you install it (there are no true "viruses", in the sense of self-propagating malware), so being careful what you install is the most important aspect of security. I don't know that AV app, so can't really comment on it. I do have Avast! on my phone, but for the phone locating/remote erase features rather than the antivirus.
(*) Any site offering paid apps for free is by definition not reputable. Don't be surprised when it turns out that malware was added to apps from those sites, as if often the case.
