There was another thread about same thing recently, but basically there's no easy fix, other than returning and exchanging the box for something else, or trying to hack the thing yourself.
As I mentioned, without a valid way of reflashing stock firmware, or having a custom recovery to take a nandroid backup, messing about with your system partition is a bad idea.
The navigation bar is a standard android feature, for all of the 2 seconds it takes to get rid of it after a reboot, is it really that big a problem?
