The Bourne Identity (shell access, any one?)

Has any one been able to access the user shell? I would love to have a suite of basic linux utilities (netstat, dig, ssh2) able to run from the command line.

Me too. That and OpenSSH ... The gnu shell tools don't take up THAT much space (10MB at the most, IIRC). So it shouldn't be a space concern.

Then I'd just want a VNC viewer... There's some other things I'd want, but those would satisfy my "unix" side.

I haven't parsed the Android source code yet, but I would think it to be relatively easy for an enterprising programmer, with time on his hand , to access the user shell (or to craft or port a lightweight shell). Any ideas?

ya that would be totally sweet if I could get my hands on some everyday Linux type tools, like terminal. or maybe just an ssh tool or vnc viewer. that would really make this phone even sweeter
