The Clock is Ticking!

I just ordered the Droid Charge from Amazon with the estimated delivery date of 7/7. I stress that's the estimated delivery date. Amazon is reliable but I think my postman drinks a little.

Just so I'm clear, if I activate on 7/7, I'm kosher vis-a-vis the All-You-Can-Eat deadline, right? I mean, 7/7 is not the day it goes away but, rather, the last day it's available, correct?

And assuming the foregoing is accurate, and assuming my postman gets hammered on Sterno and doesn't deliver my phone until the 8th, what then? I'm hosed? The application process has been completed and porting of my AT&T number (Sweet Jesus, I'll be glad to be rid of them!) has been requested. Think that might lock me in? Maybe there's a call I should make to someone on Tuesday the 5th?

Any guidance gratefully accepted.

Called Amazon Wireless support at the crack of dawn and, in the interest of closure, this is what they told me.

Verizon accepted my contract (and its unlimited data terms) after they ran the credit check, etc. My extant number has been okayed for porting and the phone is in the shipping pipeline. The phone is effectively activated.

He agreed to note my account with the details of our conversation. We'll see.
