The clock widget

About the clock widged: I don't understand it's function other than alarm and weather. And by the way, why is there weather widget preinstalled if there's already weather in the clock?

Anyway, my main question is: what's that darn thing in the upper right corner like a sun that makes my display really gray(ish) and how am I supposed to use it or why?

Likely the widget uses the weather app to pull weather data. If you don't like a widget just long press on it and drag it to the little trash can that appears and it will no longer bother you. Need more info regarding your phone to figure out what you are asking in the second part of your post.
