The congestion is real

So today I am in downtown detroit Michigan waiting for the firework display and I can't call out my fiancee can't either h+ is non existent gsm clogged I can't make a call but lte data still works... Can't wait till VoIP

Do you know that a lot of people near the World Trade Towers complained about the lack of cellular service pretty soon after the buildings went down?

There's never going to be enough bandwidth available during unusual events until they add a telepathy module to cellphones. (Even if you [and everyone else] had VoIP at the time, LTE would have been jammed and you probably still couldn't have made a call.)

That was well over 10 years ago, besides this event is annual here in the city. Also it seems only we metro and tmobile people were the ones most affected, Verizon att seemed to work well and people I knew with sprint was in the river at the time

IDK, Detroit has the highest crime rate in all of the USA. I wouldn't be surprised if people are stripping the cell towers for all of the copper and selling it to scrap metal recycle places.

Not ragging on Detroit. Honestly. It isn't uncommon for carriers to bring in COWs (Cell on Wheels) which are essentially truck mounted cell towers for large events, especially seasonal events like a fireworks show. I know they are always at NHIS (New Hampshire International Speedway) for the NASCAR races and in Boston for the 4th of July fireworks. When you have a concentration of people in on place it isn't necessarily bandwidth, it's pure numbers that the static towers can handle.

Oh dont give the the idea...i know a few disfunct sprint towers left untouched ...and its bad i know but they tend to leave stuff like that alone (for now)
