The End of Net Neutrality

I found a very interesting article over on Gizmodo showing some of the consequences of the repeal of Net Neutrality. You think Unlimited Data plans were confusing before? Check out what AT&T is up to now. Any of the Telcos can do this now. If the article is TLDR for you the gist is there are now 3 different Unlimited plans on AT&T. IMHO Unlimited is the wrong word to use @AT&T.

It looks like it's a carrier inclusive streaming or mobile TV package from ATT. Carriers have been doing that sort of thing for a long time. I had inclusive mobile TV from 3 UK back in 2004. Why is it suddenly newsworthy now?

It's only for new customers. Been a lot of yowling in the cable columns. ATT just bought Time Warner here. Disney bidding for 21st Century Fox.

Carriers trying to undercut each other for a bit. I got some spam from Verizon wanting me back. No way, no how. I'll wait on TMobile/Sprint before I do anything.

They all want to offer video. Video is the last thing I want on phone. Tablet OK as screen is large enough to type correctly on. I only use to preview a video, then get the video on the Roku. I wish they wouldn't or at least put a motion sensor or a way to NOT play it while driving. We have idiots who can't miss an episode of whatever they were watching. I'd hate to say what the driving looks like. Block out the driver's seat maybe?

@mikedt was that with an "Unlimited" plan? Why should one "Unlimited" plan play video at a different resolution than another? That's what net neutrality stopped.
Some offer unlimited only at lower speeds. You get so much data at 4G LTE and the rest at slower. You do get all the data, just not at the same speed.
