I was just browsing around for information about upgrading the LG Optimus T back to 2.2.2 and wanted to join the conversation. But my login didn't work because I was not on androidcentral.net! Now I'm a member of both!

My friend set my wife's LG P509 into a cup of Coca-Cola and went into a store for 45 minutes. When they came back out they realized what happened, but neglected to remove the battery. So the unit was bricked. Upon disassembly, I discovered that underneath the metal shield the Coca-Cola had corroded/reacted with several resistors and a few ICs.

T-Mobile sent us a replacement unit (with 5 days remaining on the warranty!) and this unit shipped with Android 2.2.2. The previous unit had Android 2.2. After Gingerbreak, z4root, and SuperOneClick all failed to root it, I took a chance with Sons of Korhol (for Android 2.3) and lo and behold it worked! I knew that performing a nandroid restore would downgrade the phone to 2.2, but I did it anyway. Now I'm wondering if there is a method to upgrade the phone back to 2.2.2? I saved the factory recovery image, but as far as I know, the factory recovery will not restore the kernel to 2.2.2, or will it?

I'm an old 16-bit assembly language guru, but Linux/Android is a new frontier for me. I've been exploring with the Eclipse Java SDK and created my first AVD today, but haven't had the time to experiment with it yet. I also have quite a bit of experience with Visual Studio, although most of my compilations were created back in the mid-1990s. I'm pursuing my bachelors degree at WGU, but I'm not sure what subdomain I should pursue. Software Engineering comes naturally to me, but I foresee better career opportunities with something like Network Design and Management or Security. If anyone has any thoughts on choosing a concentration for my BSIT degree, I would love to listen!

I look forward to interacting with the forum members here. I love to learn!
