Did you try reseating the SIM anyway, in case it is slightly loose?

If it persists after reseating the SIM it's possible that the SIM itself might be starting to fail. I've had that happen.

As for update, that of course depends on what device you have. Though if you are still on 4.4.2 and haven't been offered an update that probably means there isn't an official one for your phone.

My main suggestion was that you try reseating the SIM, as bobby originally suggested, and if the problem persists you could try to work out whether the SIM was failing (e.g. use it in a different handset, or use a different SIM in yours, and see whether the problem remains) or just get the SIM replaced.

I don't think it likely that a software update will fix this. But I see that it has been rooted, which might explain your lack of updates: some of the changes you might have made to a rooted phone would prevent it receiving official updates, and frankly even if you were offered one I'd be wary of applying an official update to a rooted phone.

Did the problem start after you rooted, or after you made any other changes? If it did then it's possible that some change you made was the cause. Otherwise I think it more likely that poor SIM contact or a hardware problem (SIM hardware or phone hardware) is more likely.

If you want to try updating, you have 2 options. Since the phone is rooted you could, if you also have a custom recovery, try updating via a custom ROM. I would however make very sure that any software you install is for that specific model (i.e. not a generic S4). I don't know what the difference between a GT-I9515 and the more common S4 models is, but I'd not assume that software for one will automatically work on the other.

The second option is to completely reflash it with a new set of official software. I'd back up everything first before trying this, and this will unroot the phone. Firmware for Saudi GT-I9515 models can be found here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s4/GT-I9515/KSA/. I've never updated a Samsung device this way, but I'm sure that site will have instructions or others here can tell you how (it will require a PC).
