It's relatively accurate to the novel, which was written when Thompson was in his 20's...so I guess that could explain the lack in story. I still really liked it for what it was but the group viewing is a good suggestion.
I'm not sure what was funnier, the ride back into town or my wife choking in a fit of laughter on her diet coke while crying hysterically at the screen.
