The S3 menu button has changed on S7

Mudflap

Lurker
I am switching from an S3 to an S7 and have run into a problem. The button to the left of the HOME button use to be a MENU button on the S3. Now on the S7 it pulls up a list of recently used apps (like the HOME button did if you held it down on the S3). A few of my most used apps use this menu button. Is there any way to reassign it or find an equivalent elsewhere? TIA

Usually long pressing the button will being up the menu.

Also, you're be able to access the menu by pressing the three dots found on the top right or top left of the screen within the apps

Thats the main cause of the problem... there is no menu button in the app (no "hamburger" in the top right corner). The main app Im having issues with was last updated more than five years ago.... also holding down the LEFT button doesnt help.

Thanks for the suggestions, got any others?

Can you post the name of the app? I'll try playing around with it

I'm guessing it's probably not possible, but I'd really like to be able to reassign the LEFT button to work as a dedicated menu button and have a long press of the HOME button pull up previous apps like on the S3.

Any S7 super geeks out there have a solution?

Looking through the reviews, looks like lot of users are reporting the same issue with recent devices and Android versions. And their support "website" seems to be a long neglected Facebook page. I guess they're out of business, this app is abandoned, and so NO updates to fix the compatibilty problems with it.

Yep, thats it... and yes, like I said in the original post it was abandoned more than five years ago. Thats one of the reasons why I was hoping to find a way to reassign the buttons to the way Im use to having them (or some other nifty workaround to the "no dedicated MENU button" issue).

On my s5 i was easily table to bring up the menu (screenshot below) by long pressing the recent apps button (bottom left)

I just realized that on the s7 they changed it to the back button. So long press on the button on the right, and that will hopefully bring up the menu. Some alternatives are discussed here.try the accessibility option, although it's probably very annoying, it works.

Doubt it. Android has removed that menu button functionally 5 years ago, and the app was last updated before that. Android doesn't have triggers for a menu button anymore. It's supposed to be built into the app interface. You're better off just leaving that app and moving to a new one.

Thank you for the info and suggestions. Using the accessibility options and a combination of universal switches I was able to access all of the menus and functions for this paticular app. Although Ill probably find a more updated app to replace it, this workaround will be very helpful to have for some of the other problems I've encountered no longer having a dedicated menu button. Thank you for your suggestions and guidance.
