I saw a very cool car charger on Kickstarter!
Here is their home page: www.el-factory.com

It is the world's first car charger with illuminant EL cable, which can use light to indicate current flow from your car to your android devices!

Hi Jacky,

Next time, please just say that you are associated with Kickstarter El-Charger project instead of "I just saw a cool product" introduction. Perhaps there are other KS backers who might be able to contribute, but be honest and don't play games when you register on AndroidForums and start your first post with intro of your own KS project ;)

hey twister6,

Thanks for the reply, we're just bit cautious when spreading the word. I think that's understandable :) Apart from that, EL Charger is a smart designed car charger, integrated with electroluminescent power cord, drawing attentions from your friends and families. Be the envy of your friends :)

A few questions. What is a wire gauge of your cables? Also, considering you are starting with "ideal" 2.1A rating, with a drop of about 0.25A to light the cable, and with a drop through the cable itself, may I suggest to boost your original current rating to something higher? New iPads need 2.4A, and most of the smartphones released in the last year use 2A for charging. You will need to use at least 24 gauge wire for your cable to guarantee absolute max 3.5A current. Using thinner wires and starting with ideal 2.1A will mean the phone won't see more then 1.5A at most.

I also see that running light increases it's speed with higher current? That is a neat idea. How about using a few led colors in the same braid and changing color depending if you are charging at less then 1A, or greater then 1A, and another color when reaching above 1.5A? Beside being fun, it would also be a visual indicator of your charging speed. Would that be feasible?
