Theme Inquiries

Hello! Although I have had my Samsung Intercept for Sprint for a few months, I am now trying to get interesting themes on it. I know you are all seemingly gurus at this stuff-- so please do not grow irritated at my newbie questions. But, what exactly is a theme? Is it just the background image or what? Also, where can I update it, and what will it change? Do new ones cost money-- are there any free ones?

Depends on how much theme-ing you want to do.

Full theme-ing is a bit complicated IMO. Or at least something I look, and see that it takes a bit of learning, which at the moment I dont have time to. I'm going to look it over once my vacation kicks in, but here are links I bookmarked for learning how to theme.

If you just want to change the look of the home and lockscreen, like on these threads (Ok granted, some screens there are MIUI themed, but not all. Some like melissapugs are not even rooted):

All you need is a customizeable launcher like Go Launcher or Launcher Pro, Desktop Visualizer app, a little bit of knowledge of Photoshop or Corel or GIMP, and the Android Market widgets to choose from and alter to your liking. For lockscreens you need a customizeable lockscreen app like Widgetlocker, Agile Lock or Ripple Lock.
