Try some different home replacements, like Home++ , ahome , freshface, sweeterhome etc. they allow you to change the WHOLE theme on ur Eris. On my Eris I use, ahome, freshface,and I tried a few others that were not sucessful. Id love to get my hands on sweeterhome ANY version.! Good Luck!
