Theming a Custom ROM

Hey guys,

I am a user of UD and I really like everything about the ROM aside from the general theme. The black is a little much for me, I liked the stock theme though. For the past few versions, I have been depending on a themer to make a stock theme that I can update my phone with, but recently the maker of the ROM has been pretty productive. Every week he'll put out a new version, however the themer doesn't seem as enticed. I usually don't update my ROM because I don't want to lose my theme.

I've been scouring the internet trying to find Youtube videos, guides, or anything that can point me in the right direction, so I'm reaching out here. I realize that I need to change files in the framework-res.apk file, so I'm not that much of a noob, but I can't figure out how to make a theme.

I started with the ROM file directly from UltimateDroid and tried replacing that framework-res.apk file with one I made which I replaced all of the contents with a stock theme that I used on a previous version. When I went into SPRecovery it wouldn't let me install it. Should I be building it like that? Should I just be installing the ROM and making a theme a completely different way? Is there a guide or anything out there for theming a custom ROM like I am talking about?

Thanks.
