Thinking about going to Big Red for Droid??

Roddy

HEllo all,

Please give me input and opinions about this.. However, I'm thinking about leaving Sprint and going to Verizon for the Droid. I mean it's the hottest phone (basically) on the market.. Plus my job gives a 20% discount with Verizon so pricing will be the same. But do you see anything in the future coming to Sprint of this nature? Is there any likelyhood of it?

Thanks in advance..

What phone do you have now?

Since phones are constantly changing and getting better and all the speculation on all the new phones coming, I can pretty confidently say Sprint and all other carriers that have an Android line will get something like the Droid and eventually better. But there is always something better coming. Personally, I generally only upgrade my phone every other generation or longer.

Since you aren't in a contract and are contemplating leaving for vzw, why not wait a bit and see what comes in the next few months. But, if you really want it, then definitely jump ship since the discount makes it pretty even price wise for you and you'll have the phone you want.

Well it depends. Do you want the Droid or 2.0 or both. I personally like the moment and think when 2.0 comes out for it that it will be better than the droid. It is all in your own perception. Godd luck with whatever you decide.

On a family/shared minutes plan, IIRC Verizon gives you the discount on the main phone/line only, not including the other shared lines. Sprint gives you the discount on all the lines of the plan.

Ya, that's what I'm going to do. My contract with Sprint runs out on the 17th. I am looking at the VZW Droid or the Sprint Moment but will probably keep my Q9C and pay month to month and see whats coming next.

I don't own a DROID but I played with one in the store for a few minutes and it felt kinda cheap to me. That's just my opinion but I didn't like how it felt. So, I signed up with Sprint and have a Hero arriving tomorrow. I really like the Sense UI and the build quality.

Ya, I'm probably going to hang with Sprint for a while and go month to month. There are some HOT phones on the horizon. Surely Sprint has something coming in the next few months or maybe a CDMA gPhone.

Maybe its just me, but why would you let something so abysmal as being "the hot phone" or the "cool thing" influence your decisions? Why not weigh out facts about the devices? Are people these days so mindless we need marketing teams to tell us what to buy? Sure seems like it. The Samsung Moment and Droid are very comparable to each other, and both have their ups and downs. If anything I would call it a draw for now, and when the moment gets the 2.1 update, maybe the moment will even have an edge over the droid. But to each their own. Phones are constantly being out-dated, within 6 months or more often than not less, so basing your hard earned Benjamins because something is "in" or "the hot thing" seems quite silly to me. Look at all the people who fell into the iPhone trap. People flocked to it, more than likely losing a superior network, just to have a device that has trouble making phone calls. Silly. Especially when the iPhone really didnt offer anything new when it comes to functionality, with the exception of a pretty UI, which was easily duplicated, and then improved upon for WinMo. That is my input/opinion. I really hope you put some real thought into your decision other than it being "in style".
