thinking about switching to verizon (is this a good plan?)

I currently use metro pcs at the moment and I want to switch carriers and see what else is out there.
I chose the plan with 450 talk mintues, unlimited text and 2gb I would be paying roughly 90$ a month if I go with verizon..If I go with sprint I'll be paying $80 a month for the same type of plan. this was with a smartphone as well (both)

I did some research and they both get good coverage where I live..
I need some opinions and suggestions about it.
which is better?
which phone should I get..?

Do you travel a lot? Sprint roams in a lot of the country so that is something you have to look out for. If you use a lot of data then you will pay overages with Verizon.

Overall Verizon is the better carrier. Sprints 4g network is a joke and expansion is going at a snails pace. Verizons 4g network is very fast and you can get it while inside of a building.

As for phone selection if you go with Verizon and want 4g I would wait a week or so for the Droid Bionic. 3g wise look at the Droid 3, Droid x, or Incredible 2. For Sprint The Motorola Photon looks good as well as the HTC Evo 3d. If you can wait 2 weeks the Galaxy S II is hitting Sprint.

I disagree.

Spring is the only carrier with unlimited data. 2gb on verizon 4g will be gone just downloading apps to your phone.

If you got in before the loss of unlimited data, I would say join verizon.

However, sprint remains unlimited and has a big contract with a 4g lte company to eventually build out their better 4g network.

Luckily I am a long time verizon customer and still have unlimited data but, if I were looking for a new carrier as a new customer, would go with sprint hands down for smartphones.

Cheers,

I agree witj Sev. I prefer VZW and as a current customer I have unlimted data.

However as a new customer I would recommend Sprint for the unlimited data.

I use 5-6GB a month without doing much.

Yea, now if verizon had set the lowest data plan at 5gb, it would be doable.

I used on average 1.5 - 2 gb per month, but have gone higher.

I'm in the Atlanta area and have to use Verizon due to my profession requiring me to have the carrier with the most coverage. But I will tell you that almost 100% of the time when I speak to an AT&T smart phone user they drop out.
I read an article about how there are so many iPhone users on AT&T it loads them down.

vzw is usually about $10 more expensive than sprint, but our stuff actually works!!!! Our 4g network is very real and expanding rapidly. Sprint still doesn't know what it is gonna do with 4g. If they are gonna switch to LTE, none of their current phones will work with that signal. Same with ATT, if they do LTE, they will need a new batch of phones as none of the current ones will work with it.

Unlimited data, well, it sucks that its tiered. And yes, you will go through 2gb kind of fast on 4g possibly. If your smart and on wifi a lot, you will probably be okay. 97% of vz's data users use less than 2gb a month. Also, the overages for data are $10 per gb. So, its not like minutes, that if you go over you will get a $500 phone bill. VZ doesn't work that way with data.

In my area, sprints coverage is horrible and getting worse, where as vzw is great and getting better.
