Thinking of the Lapdock 500, anyone have one? Anyone want one?

I can get my hands on the Lapdock 500 from Verizon for $300. They discontinued it, and its sold out online, and in all their stores. However one of the guys there can get it for me.

It seems pretty sweet, but i'm looking for some user input. For the guys that have them, is it worth it?

Second, if anyone wants one, i can order them all up. $300 is cheaper than amazon, or motorolas website. I've yet to find it cheaper anywhere else.

I have one, don't use it much.

Fired it up a week a go to test webtop 3.x, yay, it works.

I got it when it was like $150 on that special deal on the VZW website, figured why not.... dont' really use it.

I had the Lapdock 100, it was nice, but it lacked the camera that the 500 has. I only kept it for a bout 2-3 months then sold it. really didn't use it much unless I was in a hotel. I used it with my RAZR-MAX. the firefox web browser was cool, but very slow. the screen and mouse would often freeze up for 10-30 seconds at a time. Speakers were rather quiet, guessing because they are underneath the device, usually muffled by your lap or table. Although I would like to see how it works with ICS, I do not regret selling it, other than the financial loss. I plan on buying a nice tablet in the near future. I think that is a better way to go than a lapdock.

about 3 months ago, i had it for less than a week. hated it. bought a transformer prime tablet instead. loved it so much, that a couple weeks ago i bought the keyboard accessory for it. love it even more now :)

Personally I wouldn't do it. I thought about getting one but the more I thought about it for less money I got a HD Station and keyboard with track pad and can do anything I want on a 42" HD TV or my 17" laptop. So save yourself some money if you already have a laptop as you really don't need the lapdock.

and that same $300 will buy a laptop or net book, which would run circles around a cell phone with a big screen and keyboard.

well the really big appeal to the lapdock for me is the fact that I can use my data plan and always be connected.

The tablet + keyboard seems awesome, but then what about data? I would need to get the mobile hotspot for my phone, no?

Technically speaking to stay within the agreement terms I believe yes you would need to setup wifi or tethering with your carrier. So in that aspect the lapdock wouldn't be a bad idea. Wifi vs lapdock cost over two years lapdock wins.

It's true that wifi tethering outside Verizon's plan is not allowed under Verizon's service agreement. However, if you decide to not care about that there are other options. I like FoxFi myself.

I was disappointed with my 500 when I purchased it back in February, but now I am really impressed with the OS now that it has ICS.

The speed is awesome and it feels more like a computer. I haven't spent a lot of time with google apps yet, but I am beginning to like it at night when I want internet without the heavy laptop.

Its very lightweight too.
