This is my story

When I first became an adult at the age of 25 with the birth of my son, I had some crappy Nokia phone through Cellular One. A few years later, I got my hands on the EnV2 and loved the Qwerty keyboard. From that moment is was hard to give up on the physical keyboard. A few years down the road I finally got the LG Ally when I got onto my girlfriends plan.

That's when I was introduced to custom roms and all the sweetness it had to bring since the Ally was bloated. I was loving this community which then introduced me to the Nexus line. I got the Nexus 4 after some careful consideration some three years ago. That was a huge difference from the Ally. Then I got the N5 this past spring off of Swappa and wow was I even more amazed. I gave my girlfriend my N4 naturally as she had some crappy Nokia Lumia.

Everything was going fine until recently when her N4's battery started draining real quick. Also the USB ADB bridge no longer works.. Thankfully I can still use adb wireless although painfully slow. I felt bad so I gave her my N5 and took back the N4.

Up until now, I wasn't sure if I would spring for the Nexus 5X. My N5 has been doing a mighty fine job and I wasn't sure if it was worth it. Also people seem to be debating the price difference between the 5X and 6P vs Hardware. I was like a lost child unsure of what to do. I knew deep inside that the N6/P's are just too big for me. I felt the N5 was just big enough as a phone.

I guess now that my wonderful girlfriend has the Nexus 5 and I have the 16GB Nexus 4 once again, the decision to get the 32GB Nexus 5X is no longer difficult.

Going from the N5 to the N5X would be a HUGE jump in hardware and software, if you're back on the N4 .... yea no-brainer. Any phone coming out now would be a HUGE breath of fresh air. If you love the Nexus ecosystem, get the N5X you'll be thrilled.

I was rolling with the N6 and got the Moto X Pure yesterday. You can add it to your list too. Very nice phone and the only thing out there that will update like a Nexus when it is in fact not a Nexus. Also almost pure stock Android like a Nexus. Just a thought.

Actually, the N4 was on the latest version of Android 5 so I can't say I've noticed that much difference in software going to the N5X.

The main thing I notice about the N5X hardware is how HUGE it is ;) though I am getting used to it.

The fingerprint thing, the fast charging and the superb camera are all really cool though - way better than the N4 (though I liked my N4 a lot).
