I wrote a small tool which sends your current position (either determined via GPS or from the network provider) in a SMS to one recipient.
The location can be sent as longitude/latitude coordinates and as link in the openstreetmap.org web map.
Be aware that it is mostly untested and potentially incur costs. In my sporadic tests, everything went fine
