It would be great to have a way to record times for competitors as they cross the finish line. Many high school and younger sports do not record times in 10ths of a second and do not have time nor funds for fancy timing equipment. Somebody just calls out the times and another person writes them down. It is a hand held stop watch, pen and paper system. But that means a lot of data entry time to tally say team results.
Instead, have a way to record a bib number and then hit enter to record a time for that bib. Should be able to do upwards of 100 bib numbers and associated times. Then export the times in CSV so they can be emailed or otherwise sent to a PC for reporting/formatting in a spreadsheet. There is an app for a windows PC called "race timer", but it can be hard to have a PC next to the finish line in some events. People would pay money for this app (search for race timer on the web and see what is charged for the windows software).
Would be useful for running races of all kinds, cross country ski races, bike races, swim races, etc.
