Titanium Back-Up Question

Like most of us on here that "root" the phone it is to get rid of the apps that Verizon and/or Samsung install that we do not want. I was told that we cannot uninstall these items without using Titanium Back-up. I was told to "freeze" the apps versus uninstalling them. Anyone have any experience with this?
 
You can remove them with any root explorer... however without root, you can disable most of it in applications manager
