The $50 plan only has 100MB at 4G speeds, before throttling. The $60 plan has 2GB before throttling, the $70 has 5GB before throttling.
The best deal for data is the $30 online or Walmart only plan, which gives 5GB before throttling but only 100 talk minutes.

Throttling goes to edge speeds, at least on contract it does.
As was said, throttling takes it down to EDGE (2G) speeds. From what people have said, it is slower than 100mbps -- basically dial up speeds.
What many people do is get the online/Walmart plan and then use a VoIP app to get around only having 100 minutes.

Just an FYI for anyone reading the thread; the $30 a month plan with 100 minutes and 5GB cap is a online only web exclusive (the T-Mobile site). This is also available at Walmart. The sim card from T-Mobile is 99 cents, while the T-Mobile starter kit from Walmart is listed online as $87.00 ( :stupid: ). Both are specifically for new customers.

yeah, the best bet is to just get the sim from tmobile website because then you can stick it in any tmobile or other capable device and you are set! I find 100 minutes is just about enough for me because i'm much more of a texter.. and if i know i'm gonna have a long convo or be sitting on hold for a while i just use my majicjack at home.

just to make sure i follow correctly..
i can buy any tmobile phone.(phones offered to postpaid customers of tmobile plans)..then buy a tmobile sim..set up a prepaid account..probably the 70$a/m plan..stick the sim in the phone i buy..and everything works fine?
i looked at the phones tmobile offers prepaid customers but wasn't really impressed..but all the other phones are quite impressive..
am i comprehending all this correctly?

Yes, in fact it doesn't even have to be a "T-mobile" phone. For example, the unlocked Galaxy Nexus you buy from Google works just fine.
The only issue is that to get 3G/4G, the phone has to work on T-Mobile's frequencies (needs the 1700 frequency band). Though some have unlocked an AT&T iPhone and moved it to T-Mobile, the phone only works at EDGE speeds.

i think i would be able to happily choose one of the tmo post paid phones and that should do just fine..so any of the new phones that come out for the post paid customers, i would have to just buy out right(full price)? probably safer to just pick a phone from the tmo line up, that way i know that its 4g compatible?
for example..i could buy a galaxy s3 for 600.00$.. buy a sim.. setup my prepaid account..and be good to go?...it almost seems to good to be true lo.
