TMO unlocked my G1

Sup guys, sooo I walked into the Tmobile store about 15 minutes ago and proceeded to the counter. I inquired about unlocking. Couple minutes layter the guy "Ben" was on the phone and getting my email so Tmo could sned me the code. Should have it within 3 days!

Hi - I haven't had my account for 90 days yet and I'm heading to the UK for a month. But TMO won't unlock my phone for me.

I have no problem paying for an unlock code because I need to do it, but I don't know which sites are reputable and which are not.

Does anyone have a recommendation? I don't want to mess up my phone. I've read that if you try to unlock the phone a certain amount of times and fail, it locks permanently.

This whole thing is ridiculous. TMO should just offer to do it for a fee for those that haven't had their phones long enough instead of giving that revenue to someone else.

Thank you.

Oh - and I just talked to customer service - the guy actually tried to help me out, but when he looked into it he learned that the rule is an agreement between the manufacturer and T-Mobile.

G1 Unlock | HTC Unlock | ModMyGphone.com

Thanks to Swizz, I felt confident enough to purchase my unlock code from modmygphone.com for $20. It worked on the first try.

They also offered a discount for multiple phones in the household - very nice as we are a multiple G1 home.

Now all I have to do is decide whether to upgrade now to 1.5 like my husband has or wait for the download to my phone.

As far as that goes, you can manually download the legit version of the update, name it update.zip and place it on the phones sd card...no need to root your phone. And when I went into the TMO store the guy was more then happy to oblige...not even sure its been quite 90 days....
