That's sort of odd. I switched to T-Mobile last fall (September-ish) and signed up for the Even More Plus 500 Minutes + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web. It costs about $65 a month. This was a "bring your own phone" plan, so I didn't get a subsidy from them for a phone. This plan doesn't seem to exist any more.

So it looks like they HAD unlimited, then got rid of it, and are now brining it back?

I can see that all of the carriers are testing the waters on what people are willing to pay vs the anxiety of possible data overages. Most people will have no idea how much data they need. Of course cell packages are marketing, and the actual costs behind the screen are plugged in and highly variable.

I helped my Father pick out his first smart phone this weekend (Droid X - old eyes = big screen) and all the sales guys were talking about how they were unlimited data, and everyone else wasn't, no matter which carrier you spoke with. The sales people only talk about the unlimited plans and skip the tiered plans.
 
The EMP+ plan is still around. You have to go to a store or call CS. Too many people were confused by the cheaper rates and "bring your own device" I have it and I like it.

It's good that it's still available. It's bad that you have to know to ask for it.

I actually did set the plan up at the store, but I researched it online first which is how I knew the plan even existed. I almost just bought the SIM online but I didn't port my number right away, I kept my old AT&T plan for a week or two while I tried out the coverage and then went back to the store to port and close out my AT&T account.

att just purchased tmobile for 39 billion.. to get you back!
 
I think AT&T mentioned that they will honor existing T-Mo contracts however if any changes are made and one is forced into a new contract, it may get lost. FWIW, I locked in my unlimited plan on AT&T before they stopped offering, and I still have it for both my lines. I'll be sure to lock in an unlimited plan on my T-Mo account before a merger is finalized.
