To Edge or NOT to Edge?

It looks interesting but gimmicky. I've read about too many issues with phantom touch on the edge and I've heard it can be a real pain for one handed users. Until something pops that sells me a reason for the edge, I'll stick with the s6. Now, what memory size?!

I have not heard any pricing on either S6 or S6 Edge. ... but i am leaning towards the S6 Edge. The Edge does show notifications on the edge of the display, doesn't it? I don't think it is going to function like the Note Edge though.

Has anyone heard on a pricing structure?

Emerald Green 64Gb Edge is my "next" phone

As long as Verizon carries it that is. I'm hoping the color choices don't turn out to be carrier specific.

I am thinking the Edge. I still really like my LG G3 but since LG is not coming out with anything new besides the flex for a while I will give Samsung another chance. ;)

It certainly looks groovy, but the only reason for me to buy the Edge is IF the curved sides make it more comfortable to hold and has better one handed use. If not, it's the standard S6 for me. I'm also concerned the Edge will be less drop resistant because of the glass sides.

Well, i changed my mind. I pre-ordered the S6, 64gb in White today at Best Buy. They were offering a free wireless charger if you pre-order, while supplies last.
I was all set to order the 64gb Edge, but i contacted Lifeproof and OtterBox, and neither of them are planning to make a waterproof case for the S6 Edge.
I am quite abusive to my device, so i ordered it based on the info i got that says OtterBox will not do a Preserver case.

GS4 had Gorilla Glass 3. Gorilla Glass 4 is much more shatter resistant.

There are a ton of drop tests on YouTube, and nothing short of an 8 foot drop face down was able to damage the screen on the Edge. The rear glass wouldn't crack at all.

Physically, it's impossible to scratch the screen with coins. Something else is causing the scratches.

lol no its not, well not in my experience anyway, both the s3 and s4 i had received small scratches from dirty coins with rough edges, from keeping it in a jacket pocket. S5 has been in a case all its life, so cant comment on that.

Quartz sand usually does it where I live.

Time for my annual rant lol -

I can not stand youtube videos claiming to be tests when they're just demonstrations. They're just exercises in ego and click bait.

And a slap in the face to actual test engineers.

Glass is glass.

When someone releases a full table showing which materials scratched it and under what pressure that will be meaningful.

When someone releases a full table of low and high acceleration impact pressures with respect to multiple axes of application that will be meaningful.

Number of phones and youtubes for them released annually since the advent of wunder glass claiming no scratches or breaks - every one of them.

Number of phone forums here with owners as mad as wet hornets because the wunder glass on their new phone scratched or broke when youtube videos "proved" that was impossible - every one of them.

Number of forums where mod staff have to extinguish wunder glass flame wars (while in turn getting flamed privately for being on the company's side and part of the Great Conspiracy) - every one of them.

It's glass.

No adult needs to be told what their personal relationship and luck with glass is.

If you think you don't need a screen protector or case without the influence of the internet, chances are really, really high that you don't.

If you think that you do need a screen protector or a case from your experience or intuition, chances are really, really high that you do.

If you think that someone having an issue that you don't needs to be flamed, remember to tell them what the only correct dog to own is so you can see how silly your participation in a flame war is. (It can't be raining where you are, you idiot, it's sunny here! That's the essence of all flame wars.)

I think that it's great that they're improving the materials, I really do.

But the rest is simple. In my opinion. :)

Does anyone remember when the iPhone 4 was released? People questioned whether glass front & back was going to be a problem, and Apple execs were seen throwing them across the room to prove the point. That sounds similar to this video. But who here can honestly say they've never seen an iPhone 4 with a broken screen or back?

Chinese Youku video, how do we know it's not a fake S6, and plastic can be quite robust.

Depends on what your coins a made form. Our coins are made from rubber, that are triangular and are 6,800 miles on each side, so unlikely to cause any damage to a mobile phone's glass screen.
