To Page or not to Page

As stated it's a long but, informative, article. I skimmed through it as most of the details are familiar to me.

The only issue I see is giving Win7 a 30GB partition. Not sure how big his SSD is but why partition a SSD? Is 30GB the total size of his drive? Personally I'd dedicate 40GB+ to Win7 and programs. When I install and patch Win7 HP 64bit I'm already over 20GB, add in my apps; about 5GB, then my various files another 15GB now we are at 40GB. My SSD is 80GB and the majority of all my files is on a 1TB external drive. Also, with all that RAM he has he can set the page file to 4GB min & max. A page file on a SSD will perform much faster, obviously so not having one? It's up to the individual and if it works with or without, why not.

Well he has a 80GB SSD but it' on multi boot .
He has Open Suse on Dual Boot (10 GB ) atleast .
Plus he has 5 computers.
His main desktop ,with the SSD and 8GB Ram, is not the test rig .

For the actual test he used his older rig with 4GB ram and WD-Raptor 150 in Raid 0

The sole reason he doesnt have page file on his main rig it seems is lack of space .

I just did a Disk Cleanup the other day and removed everything including all but the latest System Restore and Shadow copies, reclaimed just under 4GB. If he hasn't already he could do the same.

I did contact tweakhound and it turns out he has 80GB SSD .
30GB for windows 7
50GB for Open Suse 11.4 .
He runs XP and Win 7 in VMs in Suse on SSD.
