To Root or not to Root...

what is your guys opinions on this? im so new to this android operating system and i do love it. but what are the pros and cons? is it worth it? is it easy to root and unroot? i rooted my droid 2 a ways back and completely ruined the phone. Any help would be appreciated
 
Which model have you got?tl There is an appropriate all things root sub forum with a sticky thread full of resources
 
hi,

ive not rooted my s3 yet as only had it 2 days! :D ....but i did root and rom my ol desire - almost killed it i think ;)

as far as im aware the main reason for rooting is to allow you to then flash a new rom

for the s3 ive been told there is a pc app called Odin (not sure it that is how it is spelt) that will root and rom your phone for you

....but as SU says, best place to find out stuff is the specific root section of forum
