Today's OTA update disables viewing of notifications with lock screen on

I used to be able to swipe down from the top to see what notifications were active but now I have to swipe away the lock screen first.

Is this a configuration item somewhere?

I realise it is debatable both ways whether you should have this...

On a related point, is there any way to disable the swipe-down feature. Currently, even with the lock screen on, one can accidentally swipe down and e.g. change the screen rotation. Fairly obviously the whole point of the lock screen is to prevent accidental touches, especially if you have a swipe pattern configured. Googling suggests this is not possible although it should be possible to write an app that does it.

The second part (the the swipe-down feature) appears to be impossible on the phone as it comes, but this app does it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector
and it works on the S7.

If you try to pull down the lock screen menu, the menu appears for a fraction of a second and then disappears. I think this is the best they could do.

This swipe-down feature in the lock screen is a really bad security flaw in android.

Pete, not sure what your issue is here, mine works as you state, i can swipedown on any notification when the phone is locked to preview it and if i select one it then asks to be unlocked either with fingerprint or pin (depending on how your security is set) mine is fingerprint. And if i pull down from the top then i can see the full quick settings window and the notifications, but at no point can i bypass the security.

Well, I know this is a really useless posting :) but the installation of the above app was solved that issue as well!

Now I cannot pull down anything when the lock screen is on, which is fine with me.

The whole topic of notifications is hellishly complicated, with several places where they are configured and with them being configurable on a per-app basis, and separately configurable whether to appear on the lock screen, and whether to pop up the text itself or just the event. And some of those settings are global, and maybe one of them changed. I did notice today's OTA update changed some other stuff too (it changed the screen rotation from Portrait to Auto, for example).

I am however amazed that the swipe-down menu is allowed to exist at all on the lock screen. Remember the "huge security flaw" in Windows, when it was discovered that when the login prompt is displayed, you could place the cursor in the login name box, press control-v, and read the contents of the Windows clipboard? :) A lock screen should be a lock screen, end of story...

Yea but that is down to the user's choice, you can turn the notifications off from appearing on the lockscreen or all together. But i get your point.
