Today's solar eclipse

Gee thanks! Now I'm putting off Yardwork for a few hours so I can catch the "ring of fire!" DAMN YOU!! Not really as I was looking for ANY excuse to put off yardwork! :p

Northern California 5:10 p.m. PDT
Nevada 5:18 p.m. PDT
Utah 6:22 p.m. MDT
Arizona 5:24 p.m. MST
New Mexico 5:28 p.m. MDT
Colorado (southwest portion) 6:24 p.m. MDT
Texas 7:30 p.m. CDT

Forget watching on that flat! Why not watch it in person. Joygasm to a total eclipse..

Oh yeah, and I'm going to watch it live. I figure if I start mowing around 6:45, I figure I'll get a nice little break around the time the eclipse hits here.

Taken with my SGS2 Skyrocket. Only way to capture the eclipse was via lens flare. Look directly below the sun on the ground. Only 85% annularity at my position. Using a 300mm lens with a Canon EOS DSLR proved difficult at well, especially with a 15kt wind. A moving tripod is no bueno!

And of course, using augmented reality on the ipad to track the eclipse from my position:

Better than me. In Nashville, TN the sun had set before the eclipse could begin. Here's how I got to see it locally. Via Google Sky Map:

Of course there is this screenshot from SLOOH of the New Mexico camera:

Can't wait till August 21st 2017! Total solar eclipse stretches across the US. Longest view of totality is about 40 miles outside Nashville! Woo Hoo

Had to watch live feed from Petroglyph NM in Albuquerque. One BFC type cloud just covered the sun from our yard. Had my solar scope all ready. (Coronado PST before I get warned about some solar filters)

I am about two hours South of the total eclipse path. I have made plans with my family... we will all be in the umbra together 2017. I'm on my third phone with the date set in my calendar. :) Two minutes thirty eight seconds worth!
