I get 1.2 mbps on peek times and .50mbps on 2 bars :P So the average I get in my city is .80mbps.
 
Honestly, what do you need faster sppeds for. You'll have to wait 5 seconds more to download the hottest New app. Oh no
 
Id rather have slower unlimited data than faster sppeds and eat up your limit in a fraction of the time while paying more.

I don't know what you're doing to get that, but my Verizon 4G in Phoenix is definitely NOT 30+mbps, it's more like 3-5mbps now. In fact, after having many "speed test wars" with people I meet, Verizon tends to have some of the slowest coverage where I live. My T-mobile prepaid phone is getting faster speeds!

After being with Verizon for years, I'm ready to cut it out. Granted their cell coverage is ridiculously huge, but I don't travel often so it's not so worthwhile.

Faster speeds use the same amount of data as a slower speed does. We can just do more faster hence why it uses it faster. We're not sitting waiting for one Web Page to load, we're already 10 pages deep.
 
"3G" on CDMA sucks. It's a fact of life.

I'm ok with 1mbps downloads on 3G, but anything below that flat out sucks. Hopefully, as I've witnessed, Network Vision Upgrades should make that possible. Otherwise, I'm glad to have WiMAX everywhere I need it, and my 22mbps WiFi HSI at my house, where ironiclly, WiMAX isn't available.
 
I agree there comes a point where you get what you pay for Verizon blows Virgin mobile and Sprint for that matter out of the water,i love how people defend Virgin mobiles dial up speeds,hey it's cheap but at what point does it become not worth 25 or 35 a month.

Exactly. In my area you can get comcast t1 Fibre cable Internet for 30 with unlimited bandwidth and my speed are around 30 mpbs. I and its like 30 bucks. I don't see why a phone company should charge that much for speeds that are like dial up
 
I don't necessarily need super fast speeds, but I would like for my downloads to go faster than 150kbps. The fastest I've ever clocked around here is 500kbps.

This is why I left VM, I couldn't deal with how slow 3G was. Instead I bought an unlocked Galaxy Nexus (so I have Jellybean) from Google and switched to T-Mobile prepaid at $30/month for 100 talk minutes and unlimited data (5GB before throttle). If, in the future, for some reason T-Mobile quits working out for me then I'll probably switch to Straight Talk for their Unlimited talk and data (data throttled about 2GB) for $45, which uses AT&T's network using the same phone.

Yeah, I just recently switched too. I went with the AT&T StraightTalk SIM. I'm getting speeds much faster than I did with VM. I would have gone with T-Mobile prepaid, but I don't have any knowledge of their data speeds in my smaller city.

It's a lot cheaper and easier to bring a piece of coax into your house than it is to erect towers.
